Take These Into Your Weekend!

3Know that the LORD, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.–Psalm 100

A great little psalm to memorize. In fact, I challenge you this weekend to practice these 5 verses and to hide them officially in your heart. If a new song came out that you fell in love with, you would play it over and over and sing it through your day. Do this with the Bible. These psalms were originally sung anyway.

20 years ago, I had to memorize some of the psalms for a test. Literally writing them down on paper and turning it in. So I asked my seminary professor if I could bring in my guitar and take the test in the hallway. He figured out how I had prepared, so he said sure. I stayed out there singing, strumming, and writing that psalm just like I had done every day for the past two weeks! You can memorize Psalm 100. You can do this.

Just like in Psalm 46, know that Yahweh is God. Great self-talk for you. He’s got this. He is both God and good.

He made you. You are his. There’s nothing you will face in your day that he cannot lead you through. He always provides. You belong to him. He is the reason you are here.

You are also his sheep. Your identity and purpose is found entirely as a part of your Shepherd’s flock. You follow him and he provides for your every need. It’s inappropriate to look to your spouse or friend with that perspective, but not with God. God indeed cares and provides for everything you need.

Live this day with the perspective that Yahweh is God. He is in control. He’s got this. He is your creator and sustainer. You belong to him and find ultimate meaning as a sheep in his flock. These are great self-talk reminders to bring you through your weekend. Also memorize Psalm 100. You can do this!–JMB
