1My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my being.
2Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.
3I will praise You, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing Your praises among the peoples.–Psalm 108
We love singing about God’s steadfast heart, but David proclaimed his. Most of us love and depend upon the faithfulness of God. But sometimes we forget that we are in a covenant relationship with Him. We are also expected to remain steadfast and faithful.
All of David’s being was going to sing and make music. If you are not a musician like David, then make that metaphorical. Sing and make music with your life, your words, your actions, your attitudes. Your life should resemble a song of praise to God.
This psalm pictured David with his guitars praising before the sun rose. Kind of cool.
All of David’s steadfast being was directed to praising God privately and proclaiming him publicly among the nations. And consider he was King, he had geopolitical access to do so. You may not, but what do your interactions with others say about you? Your relationships at work and at home? Your social media presence?
Is your heart steadfast towards praise of yourself or praising God? Do you pursue you with all your being or God?–JMB
