Money doesn’t lead to satisfaction.

10He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.–Ecclesiastes 5

This simple proverb invites you to wonder what has your love. What do you love and therefore pursue above other things? The author had more money than most people and yet still testified that he wasn’t satisfied. The things we often chase after most don’t lead us to the place we want to be. One of the reasons is that they simply fuel the chase for more and that thirst is never quenched. the other reason is that a love put towards things is something that doesn’t bring happiness.

I would invite you to ponder the things our culture presents as the pursuits of life. Success, wealth, followers, beauty. The categories where we might brag the most to others are areas that don’t truly satisfy. Money ultimately is meaningless. Where the comma falls on your salary doesn’t determine your level of satisfaction.

We are left to wonder what might bring that kind of satisfaction. What pursuit in life leads to the place I want to truly be? If the richest man of his day wasn’t satisfied with his money, then why do I think I will be? Good foundational things to ponder about your pursuit in life.–JMB
