Remember Me

14Only remember me, when it is well with you, and please do me the kindness to mention me to Pharaoh, and so get me out of this house. 15For I was indeed stolen out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the pit.”–Genesis 40

Some of us might be tempted to think that these Bible heroes are robots, always having the faithful response that trusts God in the mist of their situations. It’s therefore comforting to see Joseph wanting out of his troubling situation. He recognized that he didn’t deserve to be there and wanted out. He didn’t know what Pharaoh would do with him, but at least wanted him to know about his situation.

This time in the prison is going to be great for Joseph’s faith, but he doesn’t know that yet. It is during these years that he would arrive at his famous declaration 10 bible chapters in the future. Right now, he just wants to be remembered and wouldn’t mind being rescued. He’s not bitter at God, but will take any help he can get from the people God brings into his life. How can you approach your situation like Joseph?–JMB
