The What and Who

1The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
2Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.–Psalm 19

When you consider the complexity of creation and the vastness of the universe, these verses give you two categories.

WHAT IS BEING COMMUNICATED? A complex design implies an intentional designer. Did all of this get here by random, personally-unguided processes? And even if so, how did those processes take form? How did original source material get here? How was the WHEN decided? And if you find satisfying answers for all those, then please consider the WHY without God. For otherwise all this could just as easily not be here.

WHO IS BEING COMMUNICATED? Psalm 19 in a way reads like a muscle flex. As if all this tells us that God is real and that He is at work. Look at what He has done. Now therefore the God behind creation is also the God behind the Bible. We not only trust Him to work in the universe, but also through His word in our hearts. Both macro and micro.

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. (Romans 1:18-20, with emphasis)

Looking at creation invites us to ponder the micro and macro. The what and who.–JMB
