3Send out Your light and Your truth; let them lead me. Let them bring me to Your holy mountain, and to the place where You dwell.-Psalm 43
- The psalm writer wanted God’s light to lead him. In a world without electricity this could have simply meant the sun. It also could have been a metaphor, as the Hebrew word for light was also used for God’s Word (Psalm 119:105).
- The psalm writer wanted God’s truth to lead him. He wanted God to lead and looked to the Bible to provide boundaries and standards for his journey. I read both humility and submission here. Jesus viewed God’s Word the same way (John 17:17)
- The daily journey has its destination in God. He wanted his journey to be in a relationship led by God to dwell with God. What needs to stop in your life? What needs to start? What can you own in your relationships? Your daily goal is to trust and obey God, and this gives him glory (1 Corinthians 10:31).–JMB
