The Addict’s Struggle

133Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me.–Psalm 119

Here are three points that jump out at me from today’s text.

  1. The word for ‘keep steady’ also means ‘to establish’ or ‘to make firm’. ‘Promise’ also translates to ‘word’. God uses the Bible, His Word, to direct our steps. In Celebrate Recovery we trust our Higher Power, Jesus Christ, as we are directed by the Bible to change.
  2. The psalmist prays to not become an addict. The only way to prevent addiction is Biblically intentional living. The only way out is with Biblical honesty and accountability.
  3. God is more than a concept. He is relational and He cares about how we each live our lives. Our only hope in our sin struggles is centered in Him and His Word.–JMB
