33And you shall hang the veil from the clasps, and bring the ark of the testimony in there within the veil. And the veil shall separate for you the Holy Place from the Most Holy. 34You shall put the mercy seat on the ark of the testimony in the Most Holy Place.–Exodus 26
And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. (Matthew 27:50-51)
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the veil, where Jesus our forerunner has entered on our behalf. (Hebrews 6:19-20a)
- The veil made by Moses separated men from God.
- Sin brings division and separation to a relationship with God. Just ask Adam and Eve!
- The death of Jesus paid sin’s penalty and removed that dividing barrier.
- Hope for the repentant sinner comes only through the person and work of Jesus. Our good works will never outweigh our bad. Trusting in our efforts will never bring salvation.
- Because of Jesus, our sin can be forgiven by God and no longer eternally divides us from Him. Talk about good news!–JMB
