All Hands on Deck [1-minute read]

20Then all the congregation of the people of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. 21And they came, everyone whose heart stirred him, and everyone whose spirit moved him, and brought the LORD’s contribution to be used for the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments. 22So they came, both men and women…–Exodus 35

I remember a particularly rainy evening a few years ago. Neighborhood streets had flooded. Neighbors were texting each other asking about the state of their basements. And an email went out from the church. Anyone with a wet/dry vac and a willingness to serve please come to the church.

My basement had survived and so I took my vac and went to the church. There I found a full parking lot and many helpers. Some like me were simply working a squeegee and vacuuming standing water. Others were carrying heavy, wet items out of storage rooms. We even had a couple of professional plumbers who went right to the church sump pumps and drainage systems.

It was all hands on deck. So it was with Ancient Israel and the collection of precious items for the Tabernacle.

  1. GOD PROVIDED ITEMS OR ABILITIES.
  2. GOD DREW THE SERVANTS TO THE TASK.
  3. THE PEOPLE SERVED AND GAVE.

How is God working within you during this season? Do you serve? How can your story be used by God for His glory in your church or community?–JMB
