2 things I have noticed people add to the Bible in terms of importance. Both are wrong. And yes, I have at one point done both.

1. THEIR OPINION. Having an opinion regarding what the Bible says is not a bad thing. Making that opinion equal in importance to the Bible is. I used to not like the biblical word ‘predestined’ and had plenty of opinions that I followed.
2. THEIR EXPERIENCE. This shows up in subjective things that God allegedly communicates to a person even with their Bible closed. This also shows up when life is the lesson rather than the Bible. My experiences may illustrate biblical truth, but should never define it. No matter how many miles you walk in my shoes!—JMB
