39Then [Jesus] commanded them all to sit down in groups on the green grass. 40So they sat down in groups, by hundreds and by fifties. 41And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the people. And he divided the two fish among them all. 42And they all ate and were satisfied. 43And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish. 44And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.–Mark 6 (with emphasis)

Pictured are our two older dogs. They are a bonded pair and go everywhere together. When I wake up, the dogs are wanting to go out. So I lead them outside. After I lead them back inside, they want food and water. And so I fill their dishes. And then I sit down with my coffee and write this daily blog. This is how I found them as I started typing. Peaceful and at rest. Their needs were met and they could relax. They will stay like this until I get up and refill my coffee cup or the kids start stomping around the house.
Reading our text today, I was reminded of Psalm 23. I added emphasis.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. (Psalm 23:1-3)
Jesus had the crowd sit down in the green pasture and then miraculously supplied their needs. They did not want, their hunger was satisfied. Jesus was intentional about this miracle. The crowds called him Son of David (Messiah), and Jesus provided like David’s Shepherd. Are you satisfied with how God provides for you? Regarding Jesus, is your soul at rest or anxious? Are you a satisfied sheep?–JMB
