10“If any one of the house of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn among them eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from among his people. 11For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life. 12Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, No person among you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger who sojourns among you eat blood.–Leviticus 17

1. God biologically linked life with blood.
2. This would be centuries ahead of its time scientifically, but God created what science studies!
3. Most butchers today drain the blood before selling cuts of meat.
4. You’ve noticed so far in Leviticus that God didn’t allow them to pour blood on His altar. He didn’t ‘eat’ blood either!
5. With Noah earlier in Genesis 9, God linked capital punishment to the murderous shedding of blood for God considers human life precious.
6. Your salvation is linked to the precious blood shed by Jesus.

For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. (1 Peter 1:18-19, emphasized)
