1. Jesus had been prophesying about His second coming.
2. According to Jesus, that will be a day of salvation and hope.
3. Life will keep getting worse. You could read physical and mental difficulties here. Persecution and anxiety, for example.
4. The command is to stay alert and ready to stand before Jesus.
5. Pursuing sobriety in all its forms is therefore the best path forward.
