23“But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the Lord; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out. 24Build cities for your women and children, and pens for your flocks, but do what you have promised.”–Numbers 32 (emphasis)
IN CONTEXT: Three of the twelve tribes wanted land that everyone already helped to conquer. They promised to help all the other tribes conquer their territories and only then would return home. Moses, who himself would not be allowed to enter the Promised Land to hold them to their vow, gave them the terrifying promise regarding their sin.
FOR US: Each of us can harbor secret sin that nobody else knows, but God does. Better to be confronted of your hypocritical evil and humbly repent than to continue life as the hider. Your sin finding you out is actually a blessing. I have learned this in my journey. The only hope for the hider is repentance, and many times it will never happen unless they feel the convicting shame of discovered sin.–JMB
