3The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.–Hebrews 1

1. RADIANCE. Jesus uniquely displays every divine quality we associate with God, just in the flesh.
2. EXACT. God the Father and God the Son are both equally God. They have the same essence, but are two different Persons.
3. SUSTAINING. We learn from Genesis 1 that God created by His word. Here Jesus sustains by that Word. Every law of physics, chemical reaction, and biological process continues to exist because of Jesus, the eternal Son of God.
4. PURIFICATION. What Jesus accomplished on the cross is the very business of God. Jesus made it possible for my impurity to be reckoned before God as purity. This is the best possible news for me or anyone else.
5. HE SAT DOWN. In the Bible, angels don’t sit down. Prophets don’t get thrones next to God. There is no further need for Jesus to save, for it is finished. He is God, for He sits in God’s seat.
