18I am making this covenant with you so that no one among you—no man, woman, clan, or tribe—will turn away from the LORD our God to worship these gods of other nations, and so that no root among you bears bitter and poisonous fruit.–Deuteronomy 29
- The temptation to be envious of what you don’t have is huge.
- If unchecked, it will grow a bitter, resentful fruit in your life.
- That jealous resentment is a feeder for anxiety and also a story that maintains depressive feelings.
- So what are you going to direct your heart?
- Is God enough? Is what He provided enough? Is His timing enough?
- Or are you letting your heart direct you to other, potentially bitter places?
- Don’t sleep on this issue. It’s bigger than you think. It was a problem for ancient Israel, and it’s something may face today.–JMB
