Worry and Seeking

31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.–Matthew 6

  1. Jesus here makes a contrast being the attitudes of two people.
  2. The first person doesn’t know God and the second person trusts God.
  3. The first person lives simply to have his needs met. He is centered completely on survival.
  4. The second person knows that God is the ultimate provider of those needs. He is centered completely on God.
  5. The first person worries and seeks himself as the answer.
  6. The second person worries and seeks God as the answer.
  7. Which person are you?–JMB
