Comfort and Destination

13“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.–Matthew 7

  1. Jesus expects his followers to travel the path of the few rather than the highway of the many.
  2. Yet, far too often we live our lives to fit in with a popular group or to be seen with a certain crowd.
  3. The small gate and narrow road sound very difficult to travel, but worth it in the end.
  4. Self-denial as we following Jesus is hard, but the end result is worth it.
  5. The easy road has broad streets and a comfortable gate.
  6. The life that follows the selfish heart feels good and comfortable for a time. But it leads to destruction in the end.
  7. Think of your life. Which path are you on? The comfort level you experience with our current culture and how many people are traveling beside you might reveal a surprise.–JMB
