47While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. 48Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him.” 49Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed him.
50Jesus replied, “Do what you came for, friend.”–Matthew 26
- The mob wasn’t going to pick out Jesus in the dead of night.
- But Judas could identify Jesus as one of His disciples.
- This is why Judas got paid.
- Matthew reminds us that Judas was one of the Twelve. Highlighting the shame of betrayal.
- Judas maximized his influence for selfishness.
- Judas used his opportunity to follow his heart.
- Don’t be like Judas. Use your influence and opportunity to glorify God and to serve others selflessly.–JMB
