Shame and God

9Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt.”–Joshua 5

…fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)

  1. Guilt says, “I did something bad.”
  2. God uses our conscience to convict us and draw us to repentance.
  3. Shame says, “I am something bad.”
  4. Satan uses our shame stories to keep us from turning to God.
  5. God removes the shame from forgiven sins.
  6. Jesus bore our shame on the cross.
  7. If God is no longer condemning you, YOU should no longer condemn yourself.–JMB
