Ministry Provisions

“The Lord commanded through Moses that you give us towns to live in, with pasturelands for our livestock.” 3So, as the Lord had commanded, the Israelites gave the Levites the following towns and pasturelands out of their own inheritance.–Joshua 21

  1. The Levites didn’t receive huge portions of land like all their brothers.
  2. They instead received individual cities (with surrounding pasture) spread through all the territories.
  3. The means that God used what was given to others to provide for the Levites.
  4. The Levites were to be devoted to the ministry and their inheritance was centered in God, not in maintaining a land.
  5. The Levites were spread throughout Israel so all could have access to their ministry and care.
  6. If you are a faithful giver to a church, you set aside a part of your budget to help meet the needs of your church.
  7. This modern principle got its start in the ancient Old Testament.–JMB
