Challenge Your Compromising

29“Far be it from us to rebel against the Lord and turn away from him today by building an altar for burnt offerings, grain offerings and sacrifices, other than the altar of the Lord our God that stands before his tabernacle.”–Joshua 22

  1. The tribes farthest away had just been sent home.
  2. And word had gotten out that they had built an altar.
  3. This made it look like they were either replacing God or stubbornly insisting on their own way.
  4. Maybe they had done it to make worship easier or to compromise.
  5. The tribes confronted their brothers in a timely fashion.
  6. The brothers responded that this was merely a memorial item to remind them to stay faithful and not a rival worship practice.
  7. Do you let compromise go unchallenged in your life? Do you tolerate your own hypocrisy or rebellion against God? Is there a biblical rationalization for the choices you daily make?–JMB
