An Old Man’s Parting Words

6“Be very strong; be careful to obey all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, without turning aside to the right or to the left. 7Do not associate with these nations that remain among you; do not invoke the names of their gods or swear by them. You must not serve them or bow down to them. 8But you are to hold fast to the Lord your God, as you have until now.–Joshua 23

  1. Obedience to God’s Word is the priority.
  2. Faithful obedience is pictured as walking straight. Don’t turn and walk other directions.
  3. When we syncretize other practices or beliefs into Biblical faith, we compromise.
  4. What political or societal priority do you mix into your faith, even though you know it is not biblical?
  5. What idols do you cherish in your heart and bow down to them?
  6. Where do you compromise or self-justify your hypocrisy?
