47Every day [Jesus] was teaching at the temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him. 48Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.–Luke 19
- Jesus’ ministry was very public.
- His enemies wanted to kill Him.
- But the public ministry limited their private ambitions against Jesus.
- This meant that the perceived opinions of others mattered more than their convictions.
- Do you hang onto the words of Jesus? Does it affect how you live you life? The great contrast here is between the people surrounding Jesus and the hypocritical religious elite.–JMB
