Praying David’s Soul Prayer

5Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. 6Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. 7My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. 8Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.–Psalm 62

This was once a prayer of David. Let’s take these in order and ask questions.

  1. Where does your soul find rest? Where is your hope? It is either in the things of this world or in God.
  2. Is God your fortress? Do you regularly turn to Him?
  3. Does your salvation depend upon you and your choice or upon God and His choice?
  4. Does verse 8 describe the way you live your life? Especially when times are rough?
  5. This is a lot for us to think about. Especially because these questions address the hidden, unseen part of you.–JMB
