9“Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph, they sold him as a slave into Egypt. But God was with him 10and rescued him from all his troubles. He gave Joseph wisdom and enabled him to gain the goodwill of Pharaoh king of Egypt. So Pharaoh made him ruler over Egypt and all his palace.–Acts 7
His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. “We are your slaves,” they said. But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them. (Genesis 50:18-21, emphasis added)
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28, emphasis)
- Acts 7 is a biblical history lesson, so today I want to briefly ponder a theological moment from the time mentioned.
- God’s plan for Joseph was to endure unfair and evil actions done to him.
- But God intended it for good. Only good comes from God.
- So God’s plan was for Joseph to suffer, but that plan could only end in good.
- God’s plan for you may involve you enduring horrible moments and difficult seasons.
- But we trust in faith that God is working everything for our good, even if what we endure at times is not good.
- How does this change your perspective regarding life?–JMB
