Herod Chose Himself Over Jesus

21On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. 22They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man.” 23Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.

24But the word of God continued to spread and flourish.–Acts 12

  1. Herod had just killed James, one of Jesus’ inner 3 disciples.
  2. He did this to keep his Jewish countrymen happy.
  3. Herod was never more impressive politically than in this chapter.
  4. And yet, God never allows anyone to take His glory.
  5. Herod was eaten by worms. Not a godly moment.
  6. And the word of God continued.
  7. Herod chose himself over Jesus. Herod ended and Jesus continued to flourish. Nice reflection moment for us.–JMB
