Jesus Paid It All

4Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. 5However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness. 6David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:

7“Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 8Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”–Romans 4

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1-2)

  1. Please reread verses 7-8 above quoting Psalm 31.
  2. Look at what Jesus accomplished for you regarding your sin.
  3. Your transgressions forgiven.
  4. Your sins never counting against you.
  5. That is why today is called Good Friday.
  6. As the hymn states, “Jesus paid it all. All to Him I owe.”
  7. Now we run our race with that in mind.–JMB
