1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.–Romans 8
If we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
“Therefore, my friends, I [Paul] want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses. (Acts 13:38-29)
- There is no biblical basis for forgiving yourself.
- You are not God. You are also not Jesus sacrificed on the cross. Forgiving yourself claims power and position you do not have.
- Instead of forgiving yourself, memorize Romans 8:1.
- If you are already forgiven by God through Jesus, no further forgiveness of that sin is necessary.
- If God is not condemning you, my friend, YOU have no business further condemning yourself.
- This would normally show up in your life as self-hatred motivated by shame.
- You can’t theologically forgive yourself, but you can stop condemning yourself.–JMB
