15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.–Proverbs 12
In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes. (Judges 21:25)
- Israel was never more rebellious than in the book of Judges. They were fools because they were their own standard.
- Being right in.your own eyes discounts the standards of God.
- If the standard encourages you be yourself instead of following God, then you are living as a fool.
- If you are allowed to simply follow your heart then others can do the same and society crumbles into moral relativism and selfish narcissism.
- If you are a proclaimed follower of Jesus but instead follow your own heart, then you are living as a functional hypocrite.
- Your “God” is either selfishly within you or selflessly not you. You are either submitting to God or being led along by whatever feels right to you.
- If you claim to follow Jesus, then submit to the guidance of the Bible and are receive counsel by trusted friends or mentors who thus apply the Bible to your situations.–JMB
