17When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over Israel, they went up in full force to search for him, but David heard about it and went down to the stronghold. 18Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim; 19so David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?”
The Lord answered him, “Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands.”–2 Samuel 5
[Jesus said] Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (Matthew 7:7-11)
Cast all your anxiety on [God] because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)
- David was in a scary situation.
- David prayed to God for direction before he acted.
- This is a good example for us.
- Jesus reminded us to ask, seek, and knock in our prayers.
- The Father provided for David and He will provide for you.
- You might face a scary situation and need guidance.
- Humbly go before God in faith and like Peter said, bring your anxieties to Him, for God cares for you.-JMB
