16As the ark of the Lord was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she despised him in her heart.–2 Samuel 6

1. Michal was David’s first wife.
2. She was also Saul’s daughter.
3. There always seemed to be tension with Michal. Probably with God.
4. God chose David to be king instead of her dad. And her dad died by suicide on the battlefield.
5. All efforts to keep Saul’s family on the throne had failed. Who knew if she was secretly hoping for different outcomes?
6. Michal saw David celebrating in worship and rather than joining her husband, she nurtured a bitter heart.
7. Some people are like her and despise people who worship God. Maybe they feel like there is nothing to be thankful for. These people nurture jealousy, envy, anger, and bitterness instead of gratitude and thanksgiving. Are you ever like that?–JMB
