15David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people.–2 Samuel 8
The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the ways of his father David before him. (2 Chronicles 17:3)
Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. Unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord. (2 Chronicles 28:1)
- In today’s chapter, David secured his kingdom regarding foreign enemies.
- He was once again like the shepherd who protected his sheep.
- As you read about the kings and chronicles of their reigns, you will note that David was the standard for faithfulness.
- A king either was faithful to honor God like David or he was not.
- I gave both a positive and a negative example above.
- Our standard is Jesus and we are to put off our old selves and put on our new selves to be more like Jesus (Colossians 3).
