David Refused to Deal With Absalom

28Absalom lived two years in Jerusalem without seeing the king’s face.–2 Samuel 14

  1. Absalom at this point was an enemy of his father David.
  2. Absalom had been on the run, but had been brought back to the city in order for David to deal with him.
  3. Even though Absalom had committed a crime, David refused to deal with his son.
  4. David was too passive in this area regarding justice and punishing his son.
  5. What is that one thing you refuse to deal with?
  6. Maybe it’s a broken relationship and you refuse to own what you can own or make amends. Maybe it’s your sinful habits that you have made an idol of?
  7. This used to be my problem. But I owned my issues, got help, and pursued accountability. How about the “Absalom” living in “your city?”–JMB
