9After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10And they cried out in a loud voice:
“Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
11All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12saying:
“Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!”–Revelation 7
- John had once again received a vision of the throne room of Heaven.
- Just picture the countless people there. Nation, tribe, people, and language are categories that divide people today.
- In Heaven, Jesus unites them and that is more important than whatever category society might have used to divide them.
- It should be the same for Christians today. The Jesus who unites us is more important than the things that divide us or make us different.
- The heavenly crowd sings that salvation belongs to God. He is in control of who gets saved. Salvation is God’s business. Remember, salvation is first God’s choice before it ever is yours (Ephesians 1:4).
- Once again, what describes God the Father also describes the Son. The Lamb, Jesus, not only is on the throne, but salvation also belongs to Him. Jesus is God.
- Read that last line of their song. Glory, wisdom, thanks, honor, power, and strength are all attributes of God they are praising forever and ever. Do you pray and praise with these categories in mind? Do they describe your trust and obedience in God?–JMB
