5Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. 6And he swore by him [God] who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, “There will be no more delay! 7But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.”–Revelation 10
- The end-times judgments from God will play out as seals, trumpets, and bowls. Here, John was describing a speech in preparation for the seventh trumpet judgment.
- Let’s learn some basic theology from this angel that spoke before John.
- God is eternal. He had no beginning and he will have no end. God is the creator who created everything in the beginning.
- If you insist upon a Big Bang, then that original matter had to come from somewhere. Something never comes from nothing.
- God doesn’t plan and delay like we do. His will unfolds sovereignly and with purpose.
- I am a Biblical counselor as well as a pastor. Biblical counseling assumes that the Bible is sufficient to address all matters of Christian faith and practice.
- The angel in this text proclaimed as much regarding prophecy and the end-times. The Bible is sufficient and God has already spoken in it. Does your theology match up with that of the angel?–JMB
