9A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.
11And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” 12This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.–Revelation 14
- In this chapter, three angels were giving final proclamations to those who lived on earth.
- In Revelation, a person is either marked by the beast or sealed by the Lamb. There’s no third option.
- If your allegiance is to Satan, then you have no hope of salvation, and will therefore experience God’s wrath due to their sin.
- This chapter describes Hell as torment, burning, and forever.
- I don’t believe the church will be raptured away, but will instead receive speeches like from this angel.
- The church was to remain faithful even during horrendously difficult times. They were not to give their allegiance to the beast or to compromise by taking his mark.
- How are you with your allegiance? In what ways do you find yourself compromising?–JMB
