2And I saw what looked like a sea of glass glowing with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and its image and over the number of its name. They held harps given them by God 3and sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb:
“Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the nations. 4Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”–Revelation 15
- These appear to be Christian martyrs who refused to compromise to the beast and are now celebrated by God in Heaven.
- Those who believe the church will be raptured away and saved from the tribulation have to account for who these people are and how they were considered victorious. We are told overcomers didn’t love their lives as to shrink from death (Revelation 12:11).
- Their song is a reminder of the song of Moses after the exodus from Egypt. Moses famously asked God, “Who is like you?” (Exodus 15:11).
- Their song is also considered that of Jesus, the Lamb.
- The complete ministry of Jesus fulfilled the words of the song.
- Great, marvelous, just, and true. King, fear, and glory. Holy, worship, and righteous. Those words should describe how you view God.
- Who is like our God, indeed? Do you praise Him that way? No matter how difficult your world gets?–JMB
