17For God has put it into their [His enemies’] hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to hand over to the beast their royal authority, until God’s words are fulfilled.–Revelation 17

1. This chapter pictures God’s opposition gathering their forces until they get a unified response.
2. In Revelation, a person’s allegiance is either given to the beast or to the Lamb. There is no third option.
3. And yet, God is still sovereign.
4. God once hardened Pharaoh’s heart in the book of Exodus and this accomplished God’s will.
5. God’s purposes then were to free His people and to judge Egypt and her pantheon of gods.
6. God will once day do the same with Satan and his minions. God will complete a new exodus for His people. The enemies this time are sin and death.
7. Do you trust God’s sovereign plan? How hard is your heart?–JMB
