44Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. 45The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. 46I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.–John 12
- Some religious leaders were rejecting Jesus and others were secretly accepting Him.
- Jesus again links belief in Him to belief in God.
- Jesus basically said that everyone is in darkness and will stay in darkness unless they turn to Jesus as the light.
- Lights shine and reveal. We may think that we are good on our own, but our sins are a problem and they separate us from God.
- We need Jesus’ light to reveal to us our need for a Savior.
- So in these three verses, Jesus claimed to be God and also to be the the answer to man’s greatest problem.
- Are you still in darkness? Do you live as if you are? Turn to Jesus, the light.–JMB
