Jesus Is the Way

6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”–John 14

I [Paul] persecuted the followers of this Way to their death, arresting both men and women and throwing them into prison…” (Acts 22:4)

  1. Jesus claims to be the way to the Father.
  2. Three times in verse 6, Jesus used a definite article (“the” not “a”).
  3. Remember, logically, every faith can be wrong, but they can’t all be right.
  4. John 14:6 presents us with just such a moment. Either Jesus is the only way or he is not. Multiple paths to the Father do not work. All other religions of the world FAIL to do what Jesus exclusively claims to do.
  5. The Gospel message is inclusive in that all may come. It is exclusive in that you may only come to the Father through Jesus.
  6. Jesus hammers it home by claiming that in Jesus, His disciples both have known the Father, but also have seen Him. And there are people who believe that Jesus never claimed to be God!
  7. Do you treat Jesus exclusively, or are you more of a “all spokes lead to the center of the wheel” kind of person? John 14:6 is a theological game-changer.–JMB
