1And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I [Paul] came to you [the Corinthians], I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. 2For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.–1 Corinthians 2
- I have a broken, messy past that featured selfishness and addiction.
- Jesus has transformed me and turned my mess into His message!
- What I have to offer other people in recovery as I share my story is Jesus. He is the hero. He alone gets the credit for the transformation and sobriety He has brought to my life. I give my wife a lot of credit, too. She also is my hero.
- Jesus is the only hope I have to offer people in recovery.
- Paul had a past, too. Jesus was all he had to offer, as well.
- Jesus crucified means sins are paid for. The repentant one turning from his past and turning to Jesus actually has hope of a new life! For the humble person in recovery, that hope is everything.
- Is Jesus your hope? Is God using your mess for His message?–JMB
