Compromise and Love

13Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. 14Do everything in love.–1 Corinthians 16

  1. Paul’s original readers faced dangerous persecution. Many of our brothers and sisters around the world still do.
  2. However, for most Christians today, being on their guard is more about not compromising in the face of temptation.
  3. Therefore, courage and strength is linked indeed to standing firm in the faith.
  4. What you are willing to compromise about the plain truths of the Bible communicates much about your faith.
  5. The world is unwilling to compromise about the Bible. Yet, many expect compassionate Christians to compromise convictions.
  6. Love should be our guiding principle. Love for God, love for each other, love for neighbor, love for enemies.
  7. Where are you compromising? Stand firm in biblical truth. Live a life that shows love. In fact, add the rest off the fruits of the Spirit: joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and especially self-control. You know that I also have to.–JMB
