11The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.–Proverbs 31

Much effort is made describing the Proverbs 31 wife. And rightly so. Today, I want to describe the Proverbs 31 husband. Here are 10. The verses from Proverbs 31 are in parenthesis. I need this reminder. Do you?

1. He seeks to find a wife of excellence and doesn’t use the world’s standards to describe her value (10).

2. He trust his wife (11) deep in his heart.

3. He is vulnerable with her so that she can care for him (12).

4. He partners with and encourages the unique ministry that she can and does do. He recognizes that she is a blessing to others (12-22, 24).

5. He also recognizes that his wife is a great partner in life and enjoys the blessings of her journeying with him (23).

6. He listens to his wife when she speaks. He values her wisdom and insight (26).

7. He recognizes and values his wife’s ministry and service within the home (27). The kids hear his praise of her and are expected to appreciate their mother (28).

8. His words and actions communicate his appreciation of her. Uniquely her. (29)

9. He values what God values about her. That’s good company to be in (30).

10. He doesn’t stand in the way of her success, but lets the public know of his support of her (31).

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her…”–Ephesians 5:25

Single men, this is your goal as a future husband. Single ladies, look for these qualities in a future husband. Married men, submit to God and be intentional in these areas. Married women, submit to God and invest in your husband in prayer.–JMB
