12Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, 13who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways, 14who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, 15whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.
16Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words, 17who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God. 18Surely her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead. 19None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.–Proverbs 2
- The man faced two instances in this proverb: one with a wicked band of men, and another with a woman (not his wife) wanting to sleep with him. In both cases, he is pressured to compromise.
- With the men, he is tempted to compromise his goodness and faithfulness to God.
- With the woman, he is tempted to compromise his goodness and faithfulness to his wife.
- He needs to follow God’s word and get some Godly men in his life for some accountability!
- Nothing good will come for that man if he follows those wicked men or that woman.
- What do you find yourself willing to compromise about your faith in pursuit of an idol?
- Common idols people chase are pleasure, comfort, acceptance, and peace.–JMB
