1It took Solomon thirteen years, however, to complete the construction of his palace. 2He built the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon a hundred cubits long, fifty wide and thirty high…1 Kings 7
The temple that King Solomon built for the Lord was sixty cubits long, twenty wide and thirty high…He had spent seven years building it. (1 Kings 6:2, 38)
- Dimensions of God’s Temple: 60 x 20 x 30, 7 years.
- Dimensions of Solomon’s Palace: 100 x 50 x 30, 13 years.
- Simple math: volume of God’s Temple = 36,000
- Simple math: volume of Solomon’s Palace = 150,000
- Solomon spent almost twice as long on his own building than he did on God’s building.
- As we continue with Solomon’s life, we will find compromise. I submit to you that the compromise started here.
- What do you prioritize? Where do you compromise and what does it communicate about you? So many people are focused on building their own temples vs the things of God.–JMB
