44“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
45“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.–Matthew 13
The bad news of the Gospel: your sin separates you from God and is a problem that on your own an in your own power, you absolutely cannot solve. Eternal separation from God is Hell.
The good news of the Gospel: on the cross, Jesus paid for a repentant sinner’s sin. Those who trust in Jesus exclusively for that salvation are now forgiven by God and reconciled back to Him. Eternal life with God is Heaven.
The kingdom of Heaven is populated by those who understand and respond to both parts of the Gospel message. Total inability and total dependance.
I have seen the Gospel transform individuals, marriages, and families. Lives have been changed by God. My own personal discipline, marriage, and parenting have been changed by God through living the Gospel and facing my own hypocrisy!
If you truly understand the bad news and the good news of the Gospel message, you would realize that this is the most important matter in your life. You would be like the man in Jesus’ parables above. Nothing matters more.–JMB
