1My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you; 2keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye; 3bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.—Proverbs 7
“I have stored up Your word in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” (Psalm 119:11)
- I remember when I bought my first computer.
- The salesman went on and on about the speed of the processor and the memory storage in the machine. I learned acronyms like RAM and ROM.
- Now, cloud services and online backups will store files and pictures so that your phone may have near endless storage capacity.
- I just imagined reading that last point as a first year college student almost 30 years ago. Cloud? Pictures on a phone?
- Based upon this proverb, the ancient world evidently valued storing and keeping like we do.
- Here, though, the commandments of God were treasured within a person. They were kept, bound, and written within.
- What key verses of the Bible have made a difference in you? Have you committed them to memory? Do you pull them out from storage from time to time? Do you treasure them? I know I have and do.–JMB
