Light Work for God

17For thus says the LORD, ‘You shall not see wind or rain, but that streambed shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, you, your livestock, and your animals.’18This is a light thing in the sight of the LORD. He will also give the Moabites into your hand.–2 Kings 3, with emphasis

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21)

  1. Israel and Judah faced a foreign invasion.
  2. Word got out that the new prophet, Elisha, was present.
  3. So they went to Elisha for counsel and to inquire of God.
  4. Elisha wanted nothing to do with Baal-worshiping king of Israel, but was willing to serve because of faithful King Jeshoshaphat of Judah.
  5. Elisha simply presented that God was able to provide. It was light work for God. Elisha simply presented God’s Word.
  6. As a biblical counselor and pastor, I have seen God do amazing things in people’s lives. I have also seen God transform my life through the Bible, God’s Word. What once seemed impossible might just have been light work for God .
  7. He is able to do immeasurably more. Judah learned it. I have seen it with others. I have lived it, myself. Go to God with your difficult situation, seek biblical counsel, and trust God to work in your life through the pages of Scripture. I know I have.–JMB
