Good Joash

1In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash [Joash] began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba. 2And Jehoash did what was right in the eyes of the LORD all his days, because Jehoiada the priest instructed him. 3Nevertheless, the high places were not taken away; the people continued to sacrifice and make offerings on the high places.–2 Kings 12

  1. Joash was considered a good king by God.
  2. Credit is given to the counsel given to him by a priest.
  3. The rival centers of worship, called high places, still remained.
  4. And the people still were drawn to worship there.
  5. These are not listed as good things.
  6. But Joash is still considered overall a good king.
  7. Joash actually cared about what was right to God. And he did so all the days of his life. He even got biblical counsel and had accountability. He is an example for us.–JMB
